South Jersey Football Games of the Week

A lot of division showdowns highlight action this week. Here are the top games:

Winslow Township (4-0, 1-0 WJFL American) at Millville (4-0, 1-0)
Friday, 6 p.m.

These are considered the two best teams in South Jersey. It’s likely that this could be the first of two meetings since both are Group 4 schools. It wouldn’t be surprising if they met in either a sectional final or a state semifinal game. While senior receiver Lotzeir Brooks has been the headliner for Millville (20 receptions, 595 yards and 8 TDs), sophomore QB Robert O’Connor has quietly enjoyed a highly productive season, having thrown for 856 yards and 10 touchdowns. Millville is coming off a 36-7 win over previously unbeaten Washington Township. Winslow Township is coming off a 21-7 American Division win over previously unbeaten St. Augustine as Jalen Parker completed 15-of-17 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns. A sophomore, Parker has thrown for 727 yards and nine touchdowns so this should be a great battle among sophomore quarterbacks.

Rancocas Valley (3-1, 1-0 WJFL Colonial) at Camden 3-1, 1-0)

Friday, 6 p.m.

Quarterback Logan Dawson, a Boston College baseball commit, leads the Eastern offense. After an opening 25-7 loss to Washington Township, Pennsauken has beaten Highland, 25-0 and Vineland, 27-7. In the Vineland win, junior Randall Blount rushed for 218 yards and three touchdowns on 37 carries.

Paul VI’s lone loss is to St. Augustine. The Eagles have posted consecutive shutouts, defeating Gloucester 38-0 and Pleasantville, 35-0. In the win over Pleasantville, junior QB Daulton Phalines threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns. Willingboro is coming off a 21-10 win over Gloucester as Terrance Knighton had five receptions for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
