South Jersey Football Games of the Week
The final week of the regular season for South Jersey high school football teams is upon us, where many teams will be looking to clinch division titles. Here is a look into some of those upcoming games.
Thursday
Willingboro (4-4, 1-3 WJFL Continental) at Seneca (6-2, 3-1), 7 p.m.
This is the final division game for both Haddonfield and Seneca, the latter of which is tied for first place with Haddonfield in the Continental Division. If Seneca beats Willingboro, it will assure itself of at least a tie for the division title. Last week, Seneca stayed in the race with a 27-14 win over Paul VI as quarterback Anthony Tirico rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns and threw a 33-yard scoring pass to Nate Sauerwald. Willingboro is coming off its biggest win of the season in last week’s 47-22 over a Pleasantville team that entered the contest in a four-way tie for first place in the division.
Friday
Bishop Eustace (6-1, 5-0 WJFL United) at Kipp Norcross (5-2, 5-0), 11 a.m.

The winner of this game will be the champion of the United Division. Last year, Kipp Norcross beat Bishop Eustace 44-25. Kipp Norcross stayed in the hunt with last week’s 20-12 win over Holy Cross Prep, which eliminated the Lancers from title contention. Bishop Eustace has won two in a row since a 36-0 loss at Riverside. The Crusaders are coming off last week’s 25-14 win over Wildwood as sophomore Eric Beach threw for 398 yards and three touchdowns. Beach has thrown for 1,423 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Bridgeton (6-2, 3-1 WJFL Memorial) at Cherry Hill East (8-0, 4-0), 6 p.m.
Cherry Hill East has clinched at least a tie for the Memorial Division title and would earn the championship outright with a win over Bridgeton. If Bridgeton upsets East, then the Bulldogs will share the tile. (Triton could also earn a share of the title with a victory over Deptford and a Bridgeton win). East is looking for its second straight Memorial Division title. Cougars junior quarterback Josh Greenberg has thrown for 1,045 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushed for 575 yards and eight scores.
Paul VI (4-3, 2-2 WFJL Continental) at Haddonfield (5-2, 3-1), 7 p.m.
Haddonfield would earn at least a share of the Continental Division title with a win. Haddonfield has won two in a row following last week’s 38-9 win over Gloucester. Bulldawgs quarterback Van Lefakis has thrown for 1,034 yards and 13 touchdowns. Paul VI is looking to rebound from last week’s 27-14 loss to Seneca. Nate Klecko has rushed for 437 yards and seven touchdowns.
