A Look at the Conference Races in South Jersey H.S. Boys Basketball
The South Jersey boys’ basketball state tournament is soon approaching. First -round games begin on Feb. 24.

As teams will gear toward the postseason, it’s a good time to look at the conference races. Some have been clinched, while others are still being contested this late in the season.

Here is a look at the races. Records are through Saturday’s action.

Tri-County Conference

Classic Division

Salem has clinched the Classic Division title. The Rams are 7-0 in division play and can run the table with a win on Saturday against Salem Tech. Salem’s most recent division win was a 109-77 victory over a Clayton team that always plays an up-tempo game. Salem had five players score in double figures led by Tymear Lacator, who had 17 points.

Diamond Division

Overbrook has clinched the division. The Rams are 9-0 with one game remaining. Senior guard Lamar Little has averaged a team-high 18.8 points for the Rams.

Royal Division

Kingsway has clinched the division, going 8-1 with one game remaining. Senior Terence Collier Jr. is averaging a team-high 17.2 points.

Liberty Division

Delsea clinched the Liberty Division title with Saturday’s 59-45 win over Triton as Luke Van Auken, a 6-7 senior, had 27 points and eight rebounds in the win. At 8-1, the Crusaders have a two-game lead over Deptford with just one game remaining.

Colonial Conference

Liberty Division

Haddonfield, with a 9-0 record has long ago clinched the division title. Now the Bulldogs have their sights on South Jersey Group 2. Haddonfield coasted the division title, having begun the week with a four-game lead with just one remaining.

Patriot Division

Haddon Township and Gloucester began the week tied for first place at 8-1 with one game left. Haddon Township meets Collingswood (0-9 Patriot) while Gloucester faces Audubon (5-4) in their final division game.

Olympic Conference

American Division

Cherry Hill East has clinched the Division with a 7-0 record and just one game remaining.

National Division

Paul VI clinched the title with last week’s 46-40 win at Camden. That gave the Eagles a 6-0 mark, three games ahead of Camden and Bishop Eustace in the loss column with just two games remaining for Paul VI.

Patriot Division

Moorestown (5-1) has clinched at least a tie with two games remaining. The Quakers would win the outright title with a win either against Seneca or Winslow Township, who are both 2-3 in the division.

Burlington County Scholastic League

Freedom Division

Palmyra (8-1) has clinched at least a tie. The Panthers would win outright with a win Monday over Delran (2-5). Doane Academy (8-2) has completed its division schedule.

Independence Division

Riverside (4-0) has clinched at least a tie. The Rams would clinch the outright title with a win over either Moorestown Friends (3-2) or Maple Shade (0-4).

Liberty Division

Thrive Charter clinched at least a tie for the division title with last week’s 42-27 win over Holy Cross Prep. A win over Westampton Tech (5-3) or Medford Tech (3-5) would earn the title outright.

Patriot Division

Kipp Cooper Norcross Academy leads the division with a 4-0 mark, a three-game lead in the loss column over three teams, with four games remaining.

Cape Atlantic League

American Division

Middle Township clinched this competitive division with an 11-1 record, one game ahead of St. Augustine, which has one division game remaining.

National Division

Lower Cape May (10-2) has clinched the division title. The Tigers won by a game over Cedar Creek. (Millville was 8-3 with one game left).

United Division

Holy Spirit (10-1) has clinched the division with one game remaining. Vineland (9-3) has clinched second place.
