Recapping the Divisional Races in South Jersey H.S. Softball
The state tournament for softball is well underway with the sectional finals being staged later this week. While the teams are looking to extend their seasons, here is a look at the division winners in each conference in South Jersey.

Burlington County Scholastic League

Freedom Division

Medford Tech won the division with a 7-1 mark, one game against of 6-2 Palmyra. The two teams split one-run games with Palmyra winning 1-0 at home and Medford Tech returning the favor with a 3-2 home victory as Evren Novellino pitched a complete-game one-hitter, striking out 13. Palmyra’s other division loss was a 5-2 defeat to Maple Shade.

Independence Division

Riverside won the division with a 6-0 mark, while Pemberton was a distant second place.

Liberty Division

Northern Burlington went 8-0, three games ahead of second-place Delran. NBC beat Delran, 5-0 and 4-1 with the second win including an 18-strikeout, 2-hitter by Emily Shiner.

Patriot Division

Florence was the third of the four division winners to go unbeaten, posting a 6-0 mark. The Flashes have remained hot, having won their first two Central Jersey Group 1 playoff games.

Cape Atlantic League

American Division

St. Joseph Hammonton was the winner in this heavyweight division, going 11-1, two games ahead of second place Ocean City. In addition, St. Joseph beat Hammonton, 13-10 to win the Cape Atlantic League tournament championship as Bella Ramos hit a three-run seventh inning home run for the game-winner. In the regular season, Vineland was the only team to hand St. Joseph a division loss.

National Division

Hammonton was a decisive champion, going 12-0, three games better than second place Oakcrest.

United Division

This was a tight race as Buena (11-1) edged second place Cape May Tech (10-2). Buena split its two games this season with Cape May Tech.

Colonial Conference

Liberty Division

Two-time defending state Group 2 champion Gloucester won the division by going 10-0. Defending South Jersey Group 1 champion Audubon was second at 7-3. Led by pitcher Emma Dick, six of Gloucester’s 10 division wins were by shutout. Both Gloucester and Audubon scored shutout wins in their first two state tournament games.

Patriot Division

Collingswood (7-1) edged out Gateway (6-2). The teams split their regular season games, while Gateway also lost in the division to Haddonfield.

Olympic Conference

American Division

This was among the most competitive divisions. Cherokee and Rancocas Valley shared the title, both going 8-2. Cherry Hill East was right behind at 7-3.

National Division

Seneca and Paul V tied for the title with 7-1 marks. The teams split their two regular season meetings, and the score both times was 6-4.

Tri-County Conference

Classic Division

Pennsville won going away, finishing 10-0. Pitman was second with a 7-3 mark.

Diamond Division

Schalick went 8-0 to win the division, while Woodstown (6-2) was in second place. Schalick scored nine runs in both wins over Woodstown, 9-6 and 9-3.

Liberty Division

This was the tightest race in South Jersey as Triton, Delsea and Timber Creek shared the title with 8-2 records. Triton earned its share of the title in its final regular season game, beating Delsea, 5-1 as Ava Scuderi pitched a complete-game 2-hitter.

Royal Division

Kingsway went 8-0 to win the division comfortably. GCIT was second at 5-3.
