Father In MOVE Case Killed The father of a child at the center of a custody battle involving the radical group MOVE was found shot to death in a car in Maple Shade, N.J.

Sources told NBC 10 Friday morning that John Gilbride was found dead in a car sometime after midnight in the Ryan's Run development in Maple Shade with multiple gun shot wounds.

The Burlington County prosecutor's office told NBC 10 Friday morning that Maple Shade police discovered a man shot dead inside his car, but the official identity of the victim was being withheld pending notification of family.

Police said a resident of the 300 building in the development reported a motor vehicle left running with the headlights on in front of the building.

Officials said that when officers arrived at that location, they found the victim in the driver's seat of a vehicle and he had been shot. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Members of the back-to-nature group are embroiled in a child custody dispute over the 6-year-old boy, whose mother is a member of the group.

The group has fortified their headquarters in West Philadelphia in recent weeks with boarded up windows. They had also demonstrated in Cherry Hill, N.J., where the parents and child involved in the dispute were living.
