Rain Coming, Flooding Possible

Rain Coming, Flooding Possible We are due for rain this weekend, but it won't be as much as we first thought. Either way, there is still the threat of significant flooding. Check here for the the latest on the weather. Also, get the latest closing and delay information here.

The subtropical jet stream is now starting another storm system. This one will bring rain and not snow.

The upper-level part of the system hasn't gotten together yet but it will be a formidable storm. High pressure will move out starting Friday with sunshine. Then moisture comes in.

Expect some rain Friday evening. The bulk of it comes Saturday, first in the morning with the warm front. It won't be three inches of rain but it looks like more rain than what we had in 1996, when we had serious flooding problems after that big snowstorm. The temperature won't be as warm as it was in 1996 when large amounts of snow melted. But it will still be in the 50s on Saturday, which favors flooding.

And it could stay warm into Sunday morning, where temperatures will fall once the storm goes by. The rain ends and then it becomes windy. And then on Monday, another weather system comes in, although it can't be a very strong one since it is so close behind the one that is coming in over the weekend.

And then on Tuesday only 30 for a high. It is colder than normal. The normal high is 35 and we're talking about a high of 30. Saturday night is the time for concern. Saturday night and into Sunday morning depending on how much rainfalls in that short period of time. That's going to be critical.
