SJ Orgs: Goodwill of SJ

by Melissa Samuelson | Sep 2, 2003
SJ Orgs: Goodwill of SJ Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey provides education, job training and employment services for residents with disadvantages or disabilities. Well-known for their clothing/goods collection service, the resale of these items helps fund the programs to better the community and the lives of those that are unable to work.

Goodwill believes in the power of work and its positive effect on life. They want to provide that chance to as many residents with special needs as possible.

Goodwill offers the power of employment at their career center, EmployAbility. Residents with mental and physical disabilities, as well as those on welfare, those that are illiterate and those that have just escaped spousal abuse have a hard time finding and maintaining a career. The center offers education and job training to these disadvantaged residents. Residents participate in initial counseling to determine a career best suited for them. They are then trained and coached in the specific field and are aided with career placement. Residents in need are normally referred to Goodwill through other government and non-profit organizations. For more information on employment services, contact Ed Bush at (609) 267-3577.

Goodwill’s Outsourcing Support Center allows local businesses to outsource their production needs with a Goodwill staff at a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
