Great Estates: Hideaway in the woods

Great Estates: Hideaway in the woods …From the pages of House & Home…

Built in the 1980s by mathematics professors, this Cherry Hill home is now owned by two medical professionals who used those professors’ text books in college. Situated in the Wilderness Acres development, the home’s contemporary design blends into the surrounding woods. Inside the five bed/five bath house is a chic, minimalist style that incorporates natural wood and metal elements influenced by Northern Europe and Japan. The kitchen sits above the dining room with a slim view all the way through to the living area and features stainless steel appliances and cherry cabinets to match the built-ins in the living room, designed with Tom Petruzzi of Quest Builders. All decorating was done by the homeowners themselves, and the oil paintings featured throughout the home were done by one of the homeowners. Art collected from their family’s travels adorn the walls elsewhere.

The 40-foot-by-20-foot indoor saltwater pool also includes a built-in Jacuzzi, sauna and separate steam room. The floor inside the pool room has radiant heat, making this a favorite place for family and friends any time of year. In the backyard, the patio and landscaping blends into the surrounding environment, reflected in the color of the bricks and retaining wall, and gives the family easy access to the woods for nature walks.
