Cinnaminson High School

Cinnaminson High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Cinnaminson Township in Burlington County. As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 882 students and 64.6 classroom teachers, for a student-teacher ratio of 13.7.

The Mission of the Cinnaminson School District is to educate students and to assist their development into self-motivated, multi-faceted, happy and physically fit individuals who are productive, responsible citizens. The school will help students gain an appreciation of knowledge, a desire to learn, and a respect for themselves and others. In partnership with the family and the community, the school will foster achievement and will model excellence and responsible behavior.

The Cinnaminson High School Pirates compete in the Liberty Division of the Burlington County Scholastic League (BCSL), sports association under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). The league consists of nineteen public and parochial high schools covering Burlington County, Mercer County and Ocean County in central New Jersey. The coach of the School's football team is Mario Patrizi. Cinnaminson High School competes in Varsity Tier II of the South Jersey High School Ice Hockey League. Congratulations to Cinnaminson’s Girls Soccer team for advancing to the second round of the Coaches Tournament. The Pirates defeated Holy Cross 3-0 on Friday, October 17. Key players in the game included Keriann McGettigan, Amy Koebert, Ali Stuffo, and Vicky Sucharski. Congratulations!

This year, Cinnaminson High welcomes eight new teachers: Ms. McCormick, Mr. McGhee, Mrs. DeMaio, Mr. Perekupka, Ms. Gardener, Mr. Zuckerman, and Ms. Lobascio.

The Cinnaminson High School Marching Band competes and performs at many events. The members of the marching band perform at football games, their pep-band songs and half-time shows adding flair and spirit at the cold games. In addition to this, the band has a long season of competitions within two Marching Band circuits: USSBA and Cavalcade of Bands. The band is small but powerful, and has been known to give a knock-out performance. The band's director is Ms. Deb Knisely, who took over as head director in 2004. In 2004, the band also won the Cavalcade Championships in Hershey, Pennsylvania, with the show Symphonic Essence Volume 2. The band also made a big splash with its 2005 show "Pink, Not What You Think: The Music of Pink Floyd." That year, the band's colorguard came out on top, having won the Best Guard/Auxiliary Award in their division at every competition that season, including the Hershey Cavalcade Championships. The band also marched in the national 4th of July Parade in Washington, D.C. in 2006.

If the Cinnaminson High School marching band were a sports team, they’d brandish an impressive 16 win record from 20 games, a runner-up title at the State Championships, and a third place finish at the Northeastern Regionals. This year, the marching band will perform the theme entitled “Remember Pearl Harbor.”

According to Ms. Knisely, the show “starts at a USO Dance on Saturday night, December 6, 1941 with the group jamming out to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” then leads into the events of ‘the day that will in infamy’, as depicted musically with Jay Bacook’s powerful composition “At Dawn They Slept.”

This year’s band comprises 38 members from grades seven through 12 and includes senior Color Guard member Sam Mulligan, Color Guard Captain Sara Huque, Drum Major Erin Stizler, and band president Stef Korn.

Cinnaminson High School’s monthly student newspaper, The Ship’s Log, features articles written by students about sports, clubs and activities, teachers and staff and current events. This year’s staff includes news editor Molly Rollins, features editor Matt Caggiano, and sports editor Selma Hadzic. Additional staff positions are still being filled for the 2008-2009 school year.

Congratulations go out to this year’s Student Council officers. They include Student Council president Doug Bernard, vice-president Casey Cunningham, secretary Amy Koebert, treasurer Ethan Hort, historian Heena Patel and Board of Education liaison Sarah Huque.

Cinnaminson High School is located at 1197 Riverton Road in Cinnaminson, NJ. For more information, call 856-829-7770 or go to www.cinnaminson.com/chs.
