Some Could Be Without Elect. Until Fri.
About 39,000 residents of Cape May County, NJ were still without power on Monday morning, and Atlantic Electric Company says it may be several more days before power is fully restored.
Sandra May, a spokesperson for the utility, says that crews have been working all weekend but the damage was unusually bad:
"This has been an extremely challenging storm, that's for sure. Very high winds and very heavy snow. That's giving us some challenges, but we continue to work around the clock to restore power to our customers, with our first priority being public health and safety."
And she says the situation in Cape May was more difficult:
"The road conditions have made the assessment of the damage and the restoration efforts very challenging."
May says that Atlantic Electric hopes to restore power to most of its customers by Tuesday night, but some customers will likely be without service until Thursday or Friday. And that was irrespective of the snowstorm that was expected to hit our area this coming Tuesday night.
