Thunder Bats Come Alive

(New Haven, CT)- The Thunder collected season-highs in runs scored (16) and home runs (5) in a single game as Trenton beat New Haven, 16-1, Saturday night.
Leading the attack were Luis Rodriguez and Jerry Salzano. Rodriguez was 4x5 with 2 HR and 5 RBI. Salzano also had 5 RBI, including a home run.
Salzano collected a two-run double in the 1st inning off Nick Stocks that helped Trenton to a 3-0 lead. He added a three-run homer as part of a 6-run 3rd inning to give Trenton a 10-1 lead. Stocks (1-6) allowed 10 runs (9 earned) in three innings.
Rodriguez smacked a two-run homer in the 4th inning to make it 12-1 and added a three-run blast in the 8th inning to close out the scoring. It was the first two homer game by a Thunder player this season.
Also with homers were Kelly Ramos with a solo shot in the 2nd inning and Aaron Capista with a three-run shot in the 3rd inning.
Trenton starter Mike Kusiewicz (2-3) allowed one run over five innings to get the win.
The series concludes on Sunday at 1:05 PM. Trenton`s Derrin Ebert (1-0) and New Haven`s Steve Stemle (1-2) are the starters.
