(Trenton)- Josh Hancock struck out a season-high 10 Altoona hitters, while allowing one run over 7 1/3 innings, to lead Trenton to a 3-2 win Saturday afternoon.

Hancock had his longest outing of the year surpassing a 6 2/3 inning start against Portland on May 4th. The 10 strikeouts were the most by a Thunder pitcher this season.

The only run that he allowed came in the 4th inning as Altoona put three singles together with a Thunder error to score. That run tied the game at 1-1

Trenton (17-24) took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run homer by C Kelly Ramos, his 3rd of the season, off Altoona starter Neal McDade.

The Thunder grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning on an RBI single by Luis Rodriguez.

McDade (2-3) allowed three runs over seven innings and took the loss for Altoona (16-27), which has now lost seven of their last eight games.

The Thunder bullpen closed the door. Josh Garrett got the final two outs in the 8th inning with runners at 1st and 2nd.

Cory Spencer, who did allow a run today, got all three outs in the 9th inning for his 3rd save. The final out was a ricochet off Spencer`s back to Jorge DeLeon who got Richard Paz at 1st base to end the game.

Trenton and Altoona will wrap up their series on Sunday at 1:05 pm. Casey Fossum (1-4) and Chris Spurling (1-2) are the scheduled starters. Copyright © 1999 TheTrenton Thunder and Velcero™ All Rights Reserved
