(Trenton)- Angel Santos RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the 9th Inning as the Thunder beat New Haven, 5-4, on Saturday. Trenton has now won three of their last four games.
The Thunder (61-64) trailed 4-2 headed into the inning, but got a leadoff single by Virgil Chevalier off Ravens closer Mike Crudale (4-8). One out later, Luis Garcia double him home to make it a 4-3 game. A single by Mark Fischer moved Garcia to 3rd base. He scored as Ravens SS Jason Bowers booted a ground ball by Aaron Capista to tie the game at 4-4. Santos followed with his double on a 3-2 pitch for the game-winner.
Jesus Pena (1-3) got the victory after four shutout innings of relief. He allowed one hit and struck out four. Crudale allowed three runs (two earned) in 2/3 of an inning.
Garcia led the Thunder attack. He hit a pair of solo homers to keep Trenton in the game. On the night, he was 3 x 3 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI.
New Haven (44-81) scored twice in the 1st Inning on a hit by Andy Bevins and added two more in the 5th Inning off Thunder reliever Jorge DeLaRosa.
