Vegas Hags Pigskin Picks - Week 1

Another season is upon us and it should bring some great games. The Eagles have a tough schedule, but could have a chance at the brass ring. I can`t wait for the first kickoff!

Hags` Picks (home Team in Caps)

Colts (+1) 30 JETS 27
The Colts have too much fire power for the Jets. It should be close, but Vinny will blow it in the 4th quarter.

Oakland (+3) 17 KANSAS CITY 20
I say KC in an upset. Vermeil has them playing well in the preseason and their D is tough at home.

MINNESOTA (+10) 38 Carolina 17
Can you say blow out? Vikings have something to prove after their embarrassing loss in the NFC championship and should be emotional in their home opener. The Panthers… well, the Panthers stink. A lot.

GREEN BAY 27(+5½) Detroit 24
The Lions should be motivated with a new head coach and GM, but the Pack is tough at home. Also, who do you go with: Charlie Batch or Brett Favre? Thought so.

New England (+1) 17 CINCINNATI 14
Who cares? I didn`t know they had minor league games on the NFL schedule?

New Orleans 20 (+4) BUFFALO 17
Rob Johnson is a loser. The Saints are overrated. In the end, the Saints should squeek by.

Seattle (+9) 24 CLEVELAND 21
Seattle is better, but would you lay 9 points on an away team with a first year starter at QB? Me either.

Tampa Bay 31 (+9) DALLAS 13
This spread should be 90. The Bucs are a good team with a chip on their shoulder. The Cowboys suck. I like saying that!

JACKSONVILLE 21 (+3) Pittsburgh 20
The Jags have some weapons on O if they can stay healthy. The Steelers are boring but decent. Home team wins but doesn`t cover.

BALTIMORE 28 (+10½) Chicago 13
Super Bowl Champs with a better QB, at home vs. Da Bears without a clue. Bear Hunt.

St. Louis 30 (+3) PHILADELPHIA 31
Game of the week. The Eagles have a few advantages here: The Rams are banged up on O, their D has barely played together and the astrocement at the Vet. This game may have a different outcome if it was in October, but I think the Birds come up big here.

SAN FRANCISCO 21(+3½) Atlanta 24
This might actually be a decent game. The Niners have some weapons and Jamaal Anderson is healthy for the Falcons. Until Chris Chandler gets his 50th concussion, I think the Falcons will compete. I`ll go with the better defense here.

SAN DIEGO 21(+2½) Washington 17
Another close matchup. Flutie and Tomlinson should make things interesting for the Chargers and the Redskins have talent on both sides of the ball. Old, inconsistent talent. I like the home team in a close one.

TENNESSEE 20 (+6½) Miami 17
Great defensive matchup. Be prepared to see a lot of Eddie George and Lamar Smith as well as a tight game down to the wire.

DENVER 27(+7) N.Y. Giants 17 (Monday Night)
The Broncos are going to be a Super Bowl contender and I think the Giants will have a hard time winning 9 games. Here`s the start of their demise. Enjoy it, Eagles fans.
