South Jersey Football Games of the Week
This is the final week before the playoffs begin the weekend of Nov. 1. There are still some key division titles at stake.
Woodstown (7-0, 4-0 WJFL Diamond) at Glassboro (7-0, 4-0), Friday 6 p.m.
The winner of this game will be crowned Diamond Division champion. These two teams are likely to meet in the Group 1 playoffs. Last year Glassboro beat Woodstown 14-10 in the state Group 1 semifinal. During last year’s regular season, Glassboro defeated the Wolverines, 13-7. Both teams feature big-play running backs. For Woodstown it is senior Bryce Belinfanti, who has rushed for 943 yards (6.2 avg.) and 10 touchdowns. Glassboro senior Kenny Smith has rushed for 583 yards (8.8 avg.) and eight touchdowns. Smith has accomplished this in only four games. He had to sit out the first three games due to NJSIAA transfer rules after coming over from Hammonton.

Haddonfield (5-2, 2-2 WJFL Continental) at Paul VI (5-2, 4-0), Friday, 7p.m.
Paul VI clinched at least a share of the Continental Division title with last week’s 34-6 win over Seneca. A win over Haddonfield would earn Paul VI the outright Continental Division title. In the win over Seneca, Paul VI junior quarterback Daulton Phalines completed 10-of-14 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns. Haddonfield has won three in a row following last week’s 35-0 victory at Gloucester.

Junior running back Colin Beeler has rushed for 741 yards (4.9 avg.) and seven touchdowns. Timber Creek is looking to snap a two-game losing streak, having fallen to Camden and Cedar Creek. The Chargers appear headed to the Group 3 playoffs.

East is coming off a 35-14 win over Deptford. The Cougars have won each game by at least three touchdowns. Senior Denzel Lee has rushed for 1,130 yards (10.2 avg.) and 12 touchdowns. Bridgeton is among the most improved teams in South Jersey under first-year coach Dominique Williams. After a 0-9 season last year, the Bulldogs are now competing for a division title. Bridgeton snapped a two-game losing streak with last week’s 35-21 win over Atlantic County Institute of Technology.
