Marlton's Lynn Greer III Headed to Dayton
Lynn Greer III, a Marlton resident, was one of the top players from South Jersey, even though he never played his high school basketball there.

Greer, who starred at Marlton Middle School, then did the same at Roman Catholic High School, one of the top great programs in the rich history of Philadelphia scholastic basketball.

Following his senior year, he reclassified to the class of 2021 and is currently at IMG Academy, a national powerhouse in Bradenton, Florida.

In mid-February, Greer announced on Twitter that he would attend Dayton.

Greer comes from a basketball family. His grandfather, Lynn Greer Sr. was a Philadelphia high school standout at Edison, earning the city championship in 1969. He then starred at Virginia State where he was later named to the school’s athletic hall of fame. He was drafted by the American Basketball Association’s (ABA) Carolina Cougars and by the NBA’s Phoenix Suns in 1973.

His son, Lynn Greer II, starred at Temple, scoring 2,099 career points. He enjoyed a long career overseas and even spent some time with the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks.

This season Lynn Greer III is ranked as the No. 33 point guard in the Class of 2021 by 247Sports, among the best recruiting outlets.
With the addition of Greer, 247 Sports lists Dayton as No. 18 in its teams recruiting rankings.

Before attending IMG, Greer, a 6-foot-2 point guard, enjoyed an outstanding career at Roman Catholic. He helped lead the Cahillites to Catholic League championships in 2018 and 2019. Last season Roman Catholic advanced to the Catholic League finals before being ousted by Neumann-Goretti.

Playing in the Catholic League championship is a prestigious honor, especially since the games are staged at the Palestra, among the best basketball buildings in the country.

In 2018, Greer also helped Roman Catholic clinch the PIAA 6-A state championship. The Cahillites beat Philadelphia’s Lincoln, 92-80 the state final.

It was a loaded Roman Catholic team that also included two South Jersey products Seth Lundy and Hakim Hart. Lundy, who is from Paulsboro, is currently starring at Penn State.

Hart spent his first two high school seasons competing in South Jersey at Kingsway before transferring to Roman Catholic. He is currently competing for the University of Maryland.

In that state championship win for Roman, Lundy scored 28 points, Hart added 26 and Greer scored 20.

Now the younger Greer is headed to a Dayton and competing in the Atlantic-10, just like his father. While Temple is no longer in the A-10, it was when Lynn Greer II was competing there.
