One last look at the South Jersey Girls Basketball Season
It was a highly successful South Jersey Girls basketball season, highlighted by the two state champions from the seven-county South Jersey area. Here is a look back at the season:
State Champs
State Champions: Lenape (Group 4) and Mainland (Group 3).
Mainland was the top team in the area. The Mustangs (31-1) didn’t lose to a team from the seven-county South Jersey area, with the only loss to perennial state power St. John Vianney. Mainland even beat Lenape, 50-46 in the regular season.
Lenape (26-7) got hot at the appropriate time, winning its final 15 games, and as outlined last week, the Indians allowed just 29.6 points in their six playoff wins, showing again the defense does indeed win championships.
