Free Theatre Tickets for Young People

The New Jersey Theatre Alliance (NJTA) is a consortium of not-for-profit professional theatres in New Jersey. The Theatre Alliance was established in 1981 to increase public awareness, appreciation, and support for theatre in New Jersey.
“Through their capacity to bring meaning and value to life, theatre and the arts express cultural differences, promote tolerance and understanding, as well as provide a unique power to help transform lives,” said NJTA Executive Director John McEwen. NJTA developed AT&T Family Week at the Theatre to give more families the opportunity to experience together the thrill of professional theatre by offering affordable, exciting and educational programming. Now, the NJTA announces it’s fifth annual AT&T Family Week at the Theatre scheduled for Saturday, March 2 through Sunday, March 10, 2002. Across the state, in all 21 counties, young people (ages: 5-18) will receive free or discounted tickets (with the purchase of a full price adult ticket) to over 100 performances and special events including free classes, workshops and backstage tours.
Some of the many NJTA member theatres include Cape May Stage in Cape May and the Foundation Theater at BCC in Pemberton. Some of the participating theatres in our area include Appel Farm Art and Music Center in Elmer, the Foundation Theatre in Moorestown, and the Glassboro Center for the Arts at Rowan University.
To see what performances are available in your area, visit the Family Week web site at www.familyweek.com.
“We encourage you to attend our state's theatres which offer an invaluable experience of artistry and demonstrate the best in our humanity.” – J McEwen
Funding for AT&T Family Week at the Theatre has been provided by AT&T. Additional funding has been provided by Chase Manhattan Foundation, Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, N.J. State Council on the Arts, The Prudential Foundation, Target, and Johnson & Johnson. For more information about the NJ Theatre Alliance, call (973) 593-0189.
