Garden State Philharmonic Performance

by Press Release-Dante Hall | Sep 4, 2005
Garden State Philharmonic Performance Celebrating their 50th Anniversary season, a chamber ensemble from the Garden State Philharmonic makes their debut at Dante Hall with an evening of American music to commemorate September 11th. Since 1956, this orchestra has been a cultural resource for the Jersey Shore and its neighbors, and performs the best in symphonic music at a variety of venues throughout the region.

This string quartet consisting of Philip Payton and Eddie Venegas, violin; Orlando Wells, viola; and David Gotay, cello, will perform a program of patriotic music including pieces by American composers Gershwin and Joplin, as well as some jazz and Broadway favorites.

The ensemble will be performing at Dante Hall on Sunday, September 11, at 7:30pm, under the orchestration of Anthony LaGruth, who has delighted audiences and critics alike with many exciting performances. Noted by his colleagues for his easy rapport with the audiences, he works hard to build a relationship with his listeners. Mr. LaGruth has worked with some of the greatest composers of our age, including Hans Werner Henze, John Corigliano, and Pulitzer Prize winner Karel Husa, preparing their works under their supervision. The 2004-2005 Season marked Anthony LaGruth’s Fifth Anniversary holding the baton of the Garden State Philharmonic.
