South Jersey Football Games of the Week
6 p.m. - Winslow Township (5-1) at Washington Township (4-2).

Both teams are looking for high playoff seeds–Winslow Township in Group 4 and Washington Township in Group 5. Winslow Township has won five in a row since an opening 22-19 loss to Cherokee. Since then, the Eagles have won every game by at least two touchdowns. Freshman quarterback Jalen Parker has thrown for 989 yards* and 12 touchdowns. Junior Cam Miller has caught 35 passes for 729 yards and six touchdowns. Washington Township’s two losses have been to Mainland and Holy Spirit, who are a combined 10-1. The Minutemen have won two in a row following last week’s 28-7 win over Vineland. Senior Giuliano Scavetta has rushed for 485 yards and five touchdowns.

6 p.m. - Hammonton (4-2, 3-0 WJFL Memorial) at Timber Creek (5-0, 2-0).

Hammonton’s two losses were to Group 5 contender Cherokee and Group 4 contender Mainland. Last week Hammonton knocked Rancocas Valley out of the division race by beating the Red Devils, 21-6. Junior Kenny Smith scored all three touchdowns on runs of 39, 21 and 33 yards. He rushed for 295 yards. This season Smith has rushed for 1,041 yards (7.3 avg.) and 11 touchdowns. Timber Creek has been in either close games or blowouts. Two of the wins are by three points or fewer, while three are by 28 or more points. Last year Hammonton earned a 28-7 win over Timber Creek and this one figures to be much closer.

7 p.m. - Northern Burlington (4-2, 2-1 WJFL National) at Paul VI (4-1, 3-0).

Paul VI earned a 17-10 victory at Moorestown last week in a game between the final two unbeaten National Division teams. Paul VI jumped to a 17-0 lead and then held off the Quakers’ rally. Dom Santiago passed for 144 yards and Matt Morad rushed for 115 yards. Morad also scored on a 30-yard fumble return. Santiago has thrown for 992 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. Northern Burlington’s lone division loss was a 17-7 defeat to Moorestown. The Greyhounds have won three in a row following last week’s 24-7 win over Triton. Quarterback Ronnie Borden has thrown for 918 yards and eight touchdowns. Jr. RB Andrew Reynolds has rushed for 338 yards and six scores.

7 p.m. - Woodbury (3-2, 2-0 WJFL Diamond) at Woodstown (4-1, 2-0).

The winner of this game will earn at least a tie for the Diamond Division title. Woodbury has lost two in a row, to Haddonfield, 21-6 and last week, 14-8 to Gloucester. Woodbury RB Anthony Reagan Jr. has rushed for 794 yards (8.9 avg.) and 13 touchdowns. Woodstown rebounded from a 13-7 loss to Glassboro to defeat Salem last week, 27-0. Junior Bryce Belinfanti has rushed for 655 yards and nine touchdowns. These two teams could very well meet again in the South Jersey Group 1 playoffs.
