South Jersey Football Games of the Week
Friday
Mainland (4-3, 1-2 WJFL American) at Winslow Township (5-2, 2-0), 6 p.m.
Winslow Township would clinch at least a tie for the division title with a win. The Eagles have won four in a row following last week’s 50-0 victory over Camden Eastside. In those four games, Winslow Township has outscored teams, 144-20. Quarterback Jalen Parker has thrown for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns. Kipp Cooper Norcross Academy (4-3, 3-0 WJFL United) at Holy Cross Prep (4-3, 3-1), 6 p.m.
Both teams are trying to keep pace with Bishop Eustace, which leads the United Division with a 4-0 mark. Kipp Norcross has won four of its last five after last week’s 34-7 win at Wildwood. Holy Cross looks to bounce back from last week’s 28-12 home loss to Bishop Eustace. Quarterback Shane Reilley has thrown for 1,027 yards and 12 touchdowns and has rushed for 158 yards and five scores.
Seneca (5-2, 2-1 WJFL Continental) at Paul VI (4-2, 2-1), 7 p.m.
There is a four-way tie for first place in the Continental. Seneca, Paul VI, Pleasantville and Haddonfield are all 2-1 in what has been the most balanced division in South Jersey. Last year Paul VI won the division with a 5-0 record, while Seneca was second at 4-1. Paul VI beat Seneca, 34-6 a year ago. Last week’s 27-0 win over Notre Dame was Paul VI’s second victory in a row. Quarterback Daulton Phallines has thrown for 853 yards and five touchdowns. Seneca is coming off a 31-15 win over Hammonton. Junior Anthony Tirico is among the top dual-threat quarterbacks in South Jersey. Tirico has passed for 998 yards and 10 touchdowns and run for 700 yards and seven scores.
Kingsway (6-1, 2-0 WJFL Classic) at Washington Township (7-0, 2-0), 7 p.m.
The winner of this game will clinch at least a tie for the division title. This is a potential South Jersey Group 5 playoff matchup. Washington Township is coming off a 38-17 win over Rancocas Valley. Cole Aquino has thrown for 765 yards and 11 touchdowns and has three rushing touchdowns. Last year, Township beat Kingsway, 35-20. Kingsway has won five in a row since a 26-21 loss to Camden. Cole DeNick has rushed for 425 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Saturday
West Deptford (6-1, 4-0 WJFL Patriot) at Paulsboro (7-0, 5-0), 11 a.m.
Paulsboro would clinch the outright division title with a win, while West Deptford would clinch at least a tie for the championship with a victory. West Deptford bounced back from a 29-14 loss to Haddonfield to defeat Salem last week, 25-7. Quarterback Brady Cobb has thrown for 681 yards and eight touchdowns. Last year Paulsboro beat West Deptford, 18-12 in overtime. Other than a 6-0 win over Schalick, Paulsboro has won the other six games this year by 10 or more points.
