Work on Vet Turf Begins

Work on Vet Turf Begins Turf experts will be in Philadelphia Monday morning to oversee the transition from baseball to football at Veteran`s stadium. It`s part of a remedy worked out by the city with the NeXturf company.

Problems with NeXturf forced the cancellation of the Eagles` first pre-season game. To solve the problem, the city is laying asphalt on infield patches of dirt, a solution NeXturf agrees with.

However, city controller Jonathan Saidel told Action News that the city won`t be footing the bill. "I have informed the administration that I will refuse to pay for the transformation from Phillies to Eagles," Saidel said. "That responsibility, I think, lays on the door of NeXturf."

Officials stand by their assertion that the vet will be ready for Thursday`s Eagles-Jets game.
