South Jersey`s The Ride Of Terror

South Jersey`s The Ride Of Terror Every October, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, Creamy Acres Farms in Mullica Hill, NJ, transforms into The Ride of Terror, a series of three frightful activities including a haunted house, a haunted hayride (which drops you off in a haunted cornfield maze), and a 3-D haunted house. The cost of admission is $16 for adults, $12 for kids under 10.

The 3-D haunted house doesn’t take long to tour and generally has the shortest line. The effects require 3-D glasses, which they distribute.

The regular haunted house, however, holds horror at its B-grade best. A long, labyrinthine hallway guides you, occasionally taking you into darkness and through flickering strobes. Thunder, shrieks, and hammer blows thrum through the walls. Monsters lurk around corners and hands grab at you through openings. There are several cheesily gory scenes to pass through, and some unexpected sprays of liquid and feelers from the ceiling.

The haunted hayride is cozy and rustic, but the best part is the cornfield maze. Cloaked in claustrophobic semi-darkness, you make your way through the rows of corn as monsters and chainsaw-wielding maniacs appear to speed you along.

In addition to the scares, the farm also sells beverages, ice cream, and funnel cakes, provides a few portable rest rooms, and plays pop music while you wait in line.

Consider three things before you go, though. First, they do use strobe lights, which can be disorienting and dangerous for some folks. Second, this amusement is incredibly popular, attended by hundreds of people. Be prepared to deal with the Lines of Tedium before you get to The Ride of Terror. Last, younger children will be very frightened by some of the events.

Still, it’s an exciting and fun activity for a family or group of friends, and it’s great for Halloween. For more information, call 856/478-2942 or visit Ride Of Terror.
