Dare to be Scared!

The Jersey Devil’s Haunted Woods was founded in 1993 by Eileen Mack, who dreamed of a haunted attraction whose proceeds would benefit a good cause. Along with her family, she built and today, still runs the attraction named after a South Jersey legend. The haunted woods are a 45-minute excursion through a haunted trail set deep into the woods. While there is a wait, decorations and spooky characters line the entrance for audience entertainment. Once patrons are ready for their turn, they are greeted by a tour guide who takes them through the outdoors and allows them the frightful pleasure of viewing several ghoulish scenes. The attraction is new every year, so visitors will never experience the same frights twice. After the tour, guests are invited to enjoy refreshments around a bonfire. The haunted woods are definitely worth a visit. Although moderately scary, the tour is still good for even the littlest ghouls to enjoy. The area’s longest and most frightening forest walk, the haunted woods are open every Friday and Saturday in October from 7pm to 11pm and every Sunday from 7pm to 10pm. It is also open Wednesday, October 30th from 7pm to 10pm and Thursday, October 31st from 7pm to 11pm (or later). All tickets are $12 each, but a coupon is available for $3 off on their web site at www.pquinn.com/woods. The haunted woods are located in Williamstown, one mile south of the Black Horse Pike on Clayton Road (just past Williamstown Middle School). For more information, call (856) 232-3905.
