by Press Release | Oct 22, 2002
Estonian Culture at Wheaton Village The Down Jersey Folklife Center at Wheaton Village presents an evening of Estonian music, dance, food and friendship, October 26, at 7:30pm.

The program includes commentary on Cumberland County's Estonian settlement with video illustrations, Estonian folk costumes review, an Estonian folk dance workshop, and a mini-concert by the Seabrook Estonian Dancers.

Estonian immigrants from Germany began to arrive at Seabrook in Cumberland County, NJ, in March 1949. An Estonian Lutheran congregation was created along with the Estonian Association. These groups were soon followed by a choir, a folk dance group and the Union of Estonian Freedom Fighters. In addition to preserving their rich cultural heritage, Estonians embraced the values of their new country.

The DJFC will also present a special exhibit, "Estonian Traditional Arts," a selection of complimentary Estonian foods, and a Teacup Auction of Estonian crafts.

Reservations are requested. Admission is $10 for Adults and $5 for Students. Children five and under are free.

Wheaton Village is located at 1501 Glasstown Road in Millville.
