Choreography students from Rowan University's dance program bring their work to the stage for Behind the Curtain, this year's Spring Dance Concert sponsored by the Department of Theatre & Dance. Performances are April 29, 30 and May 1 at 8 p.m. and May 2, 2004 at 3 p.m. Choreographers Amanda Coppola (Washington Township), Deborah Morford (Runnemede), Stephanie Garland (Gloucester Township), Julie Delardo (Cinnaminson), Kimberly Slimmer (Cinnaminson), Nikki Williams (Vineland) and Rebecca Coyle (Cinnaminson) have created original works for this production. Artistic director Melanie Stewart, coordinator of the dance program at Rowan, stated, "Behind the Curtain features an eclectic mix from our brightest and most promising young dance artists. Audiences will be delighted by their brilliant technique and excellent performance skills." Additionally, the Rowan Contemporary Dance Company will perform pieces by guest choreographer Myriam Herve-Gil, faculty member Paule Turner and student Coppola. Herve-Gil's piece entitled R'Einnes D'Eccosse ("The Queen of Scots") features traditional Scottish music. Turner contributes a shortened version of his Velocity of Drops, which was presented in full at Rowan last year. Coppola received the Sail grant to choreograph her piece entitled Coreollis. Each of these pieces was performed at the American College Dance Festival in Fairfax, Virginia. The dance concert takes place in Tohill Theatre, located in Bunce Hall on the campus of Rowan University. Tickets are $5 for seniors, students, staff and alumni. General admission tickets are $10.
