Big Shots Are Coming!
Players from along the entire East Coast will be competing for the top positions and for a share of $6,000 in cash prizes. Three of the top male volleyball players will participate in the Championships in Atlantic City. Adam Roberts and Matt Heath, both from Myrtle Beach, North Carolina and Jake Elliott, from Charleston, South Carolina will all be competing with their partners for the championship title. In the women’s division, players Joyce Parker from Sarasota, Florida and Laura Romeika of Long Island, New York, along with their partners, will be the teams to beat.
“The Big Shot Volleyball Championship is the strongest volleyball tournament on the East Coast,” said East End Volleyball Director Richard Heiles.
Teams of all talent levels are invited to participate. A $4,000 grand prize for the top team in the Men’s division and a $1,000 grand prize for the top team in the Women’s division will be awarded. Co-ed teams will also compete for a $500 prize.
The Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority is sponsoring the tournament. Other sponsors for the Big Shot Volleyball Championship event include Native Eyewear, Venus Swimwear, Iron Horse Bikes, Volleychick, Spike Nashbar, Sweet Tomatoes, Rider Sandals, Gared Sports, Park & Sun Net Systems, Dig Magazine, 6 Flags Great Adventure/Hurricane Harbor, Down River Outfitters, Volleyball Magazine and Sportime.
All players must check in at 8 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday. The Men’s and Women’s Open, AA, A and B teams will play Saturday. Sunday morning will host the Co-ed Open, A and B teams, along with both Men’s and Women’s AA teams. Admission is free for all spectators. The beach gets packed quickly, so plan on arriving early for a good spot, close to all the action.
