Don't Miss The Music Man

by Press Release-Mainstage Center for the Arts | Feb 25, 2007
Don't Miss The Music Man The Music Man, presented 17 years ago on the Glassboro High School Stage returns again, under the direction of the same director, starring some of the same young people in different roles on March 1, 2 and 3 at 7:30 pm.

“The Music Man” has become a community performance,” says long time director, Anne Marie Weaver. “Our high school cast of 30 is doubled by what we are calling a youth cast of almost the same number of elementary students. The cast is then complimented by a group of Glassboro High Drama graduates along with the productions vocal music teacher, Bryan Broughton and choreographer, Laura Holman.”

Glassboro Alumnus, Corey Meeks, who originally played the role of Winthrop will be seen in this production as a salesman in the opening sequence. He and his wife, Jen Gardner Meeks, were actually engaged on stage during the drama program’s alumni scholarship show a few years back.

The community involvement does not end on stage. One only needs to take a tour back stage to see a number of Alumni and parents working hard to complete the scenery for the show while other parent volunteers can be seen sewing, distributing fliers, selling tickets, preparing cast dinners or supervising youth cast members.

This truly community minded performance of Meredith Willson’s The Music Man, will be presented on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday March 1, 2, 3 at 7:30 pm. on the Glassboro High School Stage located at 550 J. Bowe Boulevard in Glassboro, NJ. All seating is reserved so for the best seats contact 856-881-8273.
