Haddonfield Puts On A Fresh (RED) Face
More than 40 of Haddonfield’s boutiques, shops, and restaurants are participating in a storefront decorating contest designed to reinforce the Borough’s appeal as a premier shopping destination.
Shoppers are invited to select the “Best Dressed” storefront in the Borough by voting for their personal favorite. All voters are automatically entered to win a $75 gift certificate to one of Haddonfield's newest restaurants, the critically acclaimed Javier.
Entry forms are available at all Haddonfield shops. Completed forms must be returned to the Information Center at Kings Court no later than Monday, February 11, 2008.
The storefront decorations are part of the town-wide effort to create a festive atmosphere in the Borough for Valentine’s Day and build awareness and support for the AHA’s “Go Red for Women” initiative to fight heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women in America.
Red ribbons and festive flags greet people from all corners of the downtown.
Haddonfield Mayor Tish Colombi, a local spokeswoman for AHA and a prime supporter of the project in South Jersey, says, “Every year I send a Valentine wish to all my friends: Take care of yourself. Learn more about your heart. It is the only one you have.”
The holiday has special significance for Mayor Colombi. In 1981, her Father passed away on Valentine’s Day and the Mayor is a survivor of two heart attacks, both of which occurred within hours of Valentine’s Day.
