Call For Vets With Service-Related Ink

by Press Release--Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial | Jul 14, 2011
On Saturday, July 16, veterans with tattoos can have their photo taken for a new book by photojournalist Kyle Cassidy. The book, “Philadelphia Warpaint,” will feature military tattoos of veterans from all military branches and any era. Mr. Cassidy will be on the forecastle (wardroom if inclement weather) photographing tattoos from 10am to 3pm.

Veterans from New Jersey can enjoy a complimentary self-guided tour of the Battleship. Just show some proof of military service at the Battleship’s Ticket Office. All other veterans with tattoos may go to the forecastle only to get their photo taken. If you’d like to take a tour, a tour ticket must be purchased.

Located on the Delaware River, along the Camden Waterfront across from the City of Philadelphia, the Battleship is open for guided and audio tours every day from 9:30am to 5pm. Explore the new Turret II Experience! Scheduled to open later in July, the Turret II Experience will allow guests to journey five decks below the main deck and experience how the crew works to fire our nation’s biggest navy guns. You’ll load the powder bags, plot a firing solution and one lucky guest will pull the trigger to simulated the firing of the legendary 16-inch guns! You must schedule a tour in advance online at www.battleshipnewjersey.org or by calling 1-866-977-6262 ext. 107. Tickets for this new guided show are $24.95 per person. For more information, call 866-877-6262 or visit the Battleship at battleshipnewjersey.org.
