Nashua Slips Past Surf

Nashua starter Al Drumheller pitched six innings of shutout ball, allowing just one hit and striking out three. Ariel Garcia allowed three runs in eight innings for the Surf, with only one of them earned.
Atlantic City`s Sam Ali (1-1) walked in Nashua`s Jimmy Hurst to break a 3-3 tie in the ninth, followed by a one run single by Steve Larkin. In a surprising turn of events, pitching coach and former Phillie Mitch Williams, activated for the game earlier in the day, made an appearance pinch hitting in the ninth, drawing a walk to load the bases.
The Pride`s Mike Busby got Santiago Henry to ground into a double play with the bases loaded to end the game and pick up his first save.
The Surf announced that they have released pitcher Joe Petcka and outfielder/first baseman Ariel Delgado. Also, pitching coach Mitch Williams has been placed on the active roster.
The Surf return to action next week, May 22, at 6:35; May 23, at 6:35; and again May 24 at 11:05, as the Newark Bears come to town with former major league slugger and possible Hall of Famer Jose Canseco.
