Burt Bacharach Takes On A.C.

Burt Bacharach’s identity ranges from one of music’s greatest composers to a “cult celebrity” for the Easy Listening set in London. He revolutionized the music of the 1960s, and remains one of America’s most popular songwriters. His music ranges from rock, jazz, and soul to highly polished Broadway show scores.
His most recent projects range from concert tributes on TNT, BBC, and PBS, to collaboration with Elvis Costello entitled, Painted From Memory. The track “I Still Have That Other Girl” from this release won the Grammy for “Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals” in February 1999.
The soundtrack from the motion picture “My Best Friends Wedding” featured many of Bacharach’s classics, including the single “I Say A Little Prayer” recorded by Diana King that topped the singles charts and hit the Platinum sales mark. Bacharach’s songs are included in albums by Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin, Neil Diamond, Dionne Warwick, The Cranberries, R.E.M., and many more.
