Clothed in Confidence

Operation Warm, a non-profit organization located in Pennsylvania, will provide 25,000 children in the region with new coats this fall. Many of these children struggle with poverty and this coat may be the first new item of clothing they have received in their life. Operation Warm works to enhance the self-esteem of disadvantaged children by providing them with resources that promote a positive self-image and foster the conviction that says, “I am of value.”
The children will also be among the first to experience the unveiling of the “Tastykake Lunchroom” at 2:15pm, a new addition to the Aquarium's educational efforts. Tasty Baking officials, as well as the company mascot, Kirbee the Krimpet, will join Operation Warm's executive director Wendy Leslie to welcome the first group of children into the newly decorated room.
The “Tastykake Lunchroom” is provided for all student groups that reserve lunch space when visiting the Aquarium, and will be filled with colorful Tastykake decorations, providing a stimulating and fun environment for students. On October 21, and every Tuesday during October, November, April, May and June, children visiting the lunchroom will be treated to fun surprises, including visits from Tasty Baking Company's mascot, and samples of delicious Tastykake snacks, among other activities.
Several other sponsors will join Operation Warm to help these children. Participants include financial and volunteer support from Mellon Bank, MacIntosh Inns, Good Heavens Printing, Herr's Snack Foods and others.
