Thunder to Raise Awareness

The partnership is focused around the “Dog of the Day” program. Each game during the 2007 season will feature a different adoptable or service dog as the “Dog of the Day”. The dogs will be taken to the field at Waterfront Park at the beginning of each game. There they will be shown on the video screen and introduced to the crowd along with information about the dog’s shelter.
After each game, the dog’s picture will appear on the Garden State Veterinary Specialists Dog of the Day page on www.trentonthunder.com. The picture will have a link to the shelter’s website so people can learn more about that dog as well as others who are up for adoption. By adopting a dog from a local shelter, people are saving the lives of these precious animals and giving them much-needed and loving homes.
“This is a great opportunity for us to remind our over 400,000 fans a year that there are great dogs all around the state who are looking for good homes,” said Thunder General Manager Brad Taylor. “We’re happy to team up with Garden State Veterinary Specialists for this initiative and we are hopeful this will have a direct impact on reducing the number of homeless dogs in our region.”
Slated to be showcased for the Thunder’s first homestand, six games between April 5 and April 11, are dogs from Pet Rescue of Mercer County, Res-Q-Pets and the Ewing Township Shelter. Shelters that would like to participate in this program should contact Patience Purdy at 609-394-3300 ext 104 or by email at patience@trentonthunder.com
Periodically throughout the season, the program will recognize outstanding service dogs and the work that they do.
All Trenton Thunder tickets including season tickets, mini ticket packages and group outings for the 2007 season are on sale now by calling 609-394-3300 or online at www.trentonthunder.com.
