Medford Teen Theater Group To Perform

by Press Release | Jul 29, 2007
Medford Teen Theater Group To Perform “Broadway Bound Players”, a group of thespians comprised of Medford teens are rehearsing for “Anything Goes” Medford Township Department of Recreation’s inaugural musical production showcasing the acting, singing and dancing talent of Medford’s youth.

The tweens and teens have been busy preparing all summer under the direction of Michael Del Rossi, a newcomer to the area who also directed this year’s Memorial Middle School production of Oklahoma. Mr. DelRossi is pleased to share his skills with this new group of Medford residents. “I am honored to be here to fill a need in the community. There is so much talent here and most of the other programs doing full scale musicals are quite some distance away; it’s great to have a local venue. These kids are working incredibly hard and their enthusiasm just amazes me.”

“Anything Goes” is a full scale musical production based on the music and lyrics of Cole Porter. This madcap 1930’s comedy is set on an ocean liner and features the hit songs “You’re the Top”, “I Get a Kick Out of You”, and “It’s Delovely”. It is the story of Billy Crocker who stows away on the ship once he realizes that his true love, socialite Hope Harcourt, is aboard ship and is about to marry a rich Englishman. Also aboard is his pal, Reno Sweeney, an evangelist turned entertainer, her band of “Angels”, a fleeing gangster and his female companion, a missionary and her “converts”, Billy’s boss and Hope’s snooty mother. Mayhem ensues and matches are made, but not the ones we expect!

“Anything Goes” will be performed August 2, 3, and 4 at BCIT on Hawkins Road in Medford. The curtain goes up at 7:00. Tickets are available for $5.00 at the door. For more information, contact Medford Township Department of Recreation at 609-654-2512.
