Creative Inspiration at Perkins Center With autumn right around the corner advanced and beginner artists alike can turn to Perkins Center for the Arts for a full line-up of artistic offerings at the both their Moorestown and Collingswood locations. Through the fall session at Perkins, artists can celebrate all the beautiful aspects of autumn - back to school excitement, pumpkin pie and changing leaves - with an artistic spin. Offered at a variety of times to accommodate the busy schedules of adults and youth, classes at Perkins Center for the Arts give art students the opportunity for in-depth study while the workshops afford the chance to be introduced to a new medium. Perkins Center’s visual and performing arts classes and music lessons for adults and children are held during the day and evening, Monday through Saturday. Perkins Center Moorestown is located at 395 Kings Highway, Moorestown, NJ and Perkins Center Collingswood is located at 30 Irvin Avenue, Collingswood, NJ. Fall Conservatory Lessons begin September 4 at Perkins Center Moorestown. With an outstanding faculty of highly regarded musicians from the region, the conservatory focuses on developing a foundation in classical music, along with exploring individual interest in contemporary jazz, blues and rock. Year-round instruction is offered in voice and on a variety of instrument including piano, violin, flute, recorder, guitar and percussion. Taught by some of the best art instructors in this area, classes and workshops are available for artists of all ages and skill levels. The new session of Fall Classes at Perkins Center Moorestown will begin September 10. Performing arts and dance classes introducing younger students to fundamentals and technique. Perkins offers an array of visual arts classes for young people. Children ages 4 - 9 can enjoy hands-on arts activities such as Fantasy Sculpture, Experiments in 3D and Pottery. Older children ages 10 - 16 can try their hand at Puppetry, Comic Book Illustration, Drawing & Painting, or Exploring Clay. For high school age artists, 14-18 years old, classes in drawing and photography are helpful to prep for college entry. A new course in Portfolio Prep readies junior and seniors for the college application portfolio. Adult classes explore many mediums including life drawing, painting, writing, sculpture and pottery. Perkins Center Collingswood opens the fall session on September 10 with two and three dimensional art classes for youngsters and pastels and painting classes for adults. Young children and teens can experience various learning techniques to help build confidence and enhance their ability to express themselves through art. Adult artists of all skill levels can choose from a wide variety of media and methods. Designed for one day learning, Saturday Weekend Workshops at Perkins Center Collingswood will run September 29 to November 3. Offerings include acrylics, mixed media, collage, bookbinding, pastels and “En Plein Air” oil painting sessions along the Cooper and Delaware rivers.
