The SJSCA All-South Jersey Girls Soccer Team
The South Jersey Soccer Coaches Association has announced its All-South Jersey teams, voted on by the coaches. In addition to first, second and third-team All-South Jersey, there was also a player of the year (POY) for each position. In two of the positions, there were co-Players of the Year. Here are the girls’ All-South Jersey members. 

 

Forwards

First-Team: Ocean City junior Naomi Nnewihe, (POY); Seneca senior Ava Palladino; Shawnee senior Makenzie McCready; Cherry Hill West senior Kennedy Erdman; Sterling sophomore Montgomery Draham.

Second-Team: Delran junior Mya Jackson; Williamstown senior Angela Oliveto; Bishop Eustace senior Allie Serlenga; Delsea sophomore Olivia Capecci; Bridgeton junior Adelina Wilks; Schalick senior Emily Miller.

Third-Team: Cinnaminson sophomore Shiloh Moore; Cherokee sophomore Abbie Zubrzycki; Palmyra senior Julia Ostroff; Kingsway junior Cailon Burlingame.

 

Midfielders

First-Team: Ocean City senior McKenna Chisholm (POY); Seneca senior Gabby Miller (POY); Cinnaminson junior Bailey Coston; Cherokee senior Ailyn Rowe; Sterling junior Ireland Kay.

Second-Team: Kingsway senior Hannah Ferris; Bishop Eustace junior Mia Abbey; Maple Shade senior Billie Ormsby;  Shawnee sophomore Madelynn Sadusky; Audubon junior Makenna Ammon; Egg Harbor Township junior Aniyah Parker.

Third-Team: Millville senior Cali Sloan; Cherry Hill West junior Julie Short; Ocean City senior Ashley Rhodes; Haddon Heights senior Kylee Ferranto.

 

Defenders

First-Team: Shawnee junior Joellie Giquinto (POY); Sterling senior Erin Quinn (POY); Paul VI senior Sophia Miller; Williamstown senior Makala Baker; Delran senior Summer Parkinson.

Second-Team: Ocean City junior Coryn McDonnell; Egg Harbor Township senior Angelina Horin; Cherokee senior Nicole Edelman; Kingsway senior Brianna Lewis; Eastern senior Remi Cherkas; Gloucester sophomore Meghan Gorman.

Third-Team: Moorestown sophomore Ellia Oteri; Audubon sophomore Charlie Owens; Cherry Hill West junior Danielle Short; Shawnee junior Erin Doyle.

Goalies

First-Team: Shawnee junior Mackenzie Bobbi (POY); Moorestown junior Lauren Swafford.

Second-Team: Mainland senior Genevieve Morrison; Haddonfield junior Enya Carthy. 

Third-Team: Clearview senior Madison Wessell; Cherokee senior Jada Branford.

Ocean City had two players of the year—Nnewihe (forward) and Chisholm (midfielder). They led Ocean City to a 21-2 record and championship of the Cape Atlantic League. Nnewihe had 28 goals and 10 assists, while Chisholm added 25 goals and nine assists.

Seneca’s Miller shared midfielder POY honors with Chisholm. Miller helped lead Seneca to the South Jersey Group 2 title. She contributed 27 goals and 11 assists this season.

The co-defenders of the year were Shawnee’s Giquinto and Sterling’s Quinn. Shawnee won the South Jersey Group 3 title and advanced to the state final before losing in penalty kicks to Chatham. Giquinto was part of a defense that recorded 17 shutouts. Sterling’s Quinn was part of a defense that recorded eight shutouts. 

Shawnee’s Bobbi, the goalie of the year, had 16 of the Renegades’ 17 shutouts. 

The College Player of the Year was Eastern graduate Kelli McGroarty of Big 10 Tournament champion Iowa, which also won a game in the NCAA tournament. McGroarty tied for the team lead with seven goals, and added four assists. Jim Kay, who led Sterling to the South Jersey Coaches Tournament and Colonial Conference Liberty Division titles, was named the Coach of the Year.
