Local 9-11Memorial Events If you are looking for something special to do today, there are many events going on in South Jersey to commemorate the tragedy that took place last year on this date. Here is a listing of some of them.

Reflections: Camden County College Remembers Sept. 11, a tribute of words, music and images in honor of the victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, begins 8:45am on Wednesday, Sept. 11. A moment of silence will be observed at 9:03am, the moment when the second airliner crashed into the World Trade Center and revealed that what was happening was no accident.

This event will be held at the Presidential Courtyard, Blackwood Campus, Camden County College.

Details of the event: "Reflections from Ground Zero" will be provided by CCC paramedic program director Regina Twisdale, who trained many of the South Jersey emergency services members who served at the World Trade Center; CCC paramedic program clinical coordinator Michael Kolczynski, who assisted with the search-and-rescue/recovery efforts undertaken in New York City; and CCC fire science student Bonnie-Lynn Bell, an ambulance driver who served at Ground Zero.

"Reflections from a Friend" will be provided by David Sylvester, who rode from Oregon to New Hampshire on a 56-day trek to raise funds for the Kevin Bowser Scholarship Fund. Sylvester established this fund in honor of his friend, a Philadelphia resident who died on the 94th floor of the World Trade Center.

"Reflections in Writing" will be offered by English Department faculty members Claire Berger, Steve Boyer and Dave Daniels, who will give literary readings.

"Reflections in Music" will be provided by Trumpets East, a professional ensemble led by Professor Mike Billingsley, will play patriotic music to open and conclude the program. Selections will include special arrangements of "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "God Bless America" that were composed by adjunct faculty member Mike Jarosz.

"Reflections in Focus" will be projected behind the speakers throughout the program.

In Burlington City,
at 7:30pm, Burlington Always Remember Day, featuring speeches by fire and police personnel, light displays by rescue squads and memorial actions. Procession up High Street to Historical Society at 451 High St where the video 9-11 In Memoriam, an HBO production, will be shown on the lawn at 8pm.

In Camden,
* at 8:47am, Battleship New Jersey holds wreath-tossing ceremony and prayer service, military color and ceremonial changing of ship's flags, in remembrance of Sept. 11; on the waterfront.
* at 8:45am, an Interfaith service will be held, followed by a procession to Rutgers-Camden
* at 10:15pm, tree planting; Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Broadway and Market Streets, then,
* at 10:30am, "One Nation Under God" at North 3rd Street at Rutgers' Gordon Theater.
* all day, free admission to the NJ State Aquarium and Camden Children's Garden

In Cherry Hill,
* at 8:11am, a Sept. 11 memorial stone will be unveiled at Kings Highway and Chapel Avenue, near ShopRite Supermarket.
* between 9:15 and 9:30am, 1,000 6th, 7th, and 8th, grade students at Carusi Middle School, under the direction of Michelle Smith, Activities Coordinator, are planning to assemble as a human flag in the middle of the track field in remembrance of 9/11.
* at 7:30pm, a one-hour interfaith service of remembrance, reflection, and renewal with speakers: Deacon Colleen Spaeth, who served as a chaplain at the Twin Towers site; Rabbi Steven Lindermann of Temple Beth Sholom; and Edward Nancarrow of Pennsauken, who escaped from the WTC. The service will be at St. Peter Celestine Church, 402 N. Kings Hwy * at 7:30pm, remembrance service, Covenant Presbyterian Church, 520 S. Kings Hwy
* at 7:30pm, memorial service, Temple Emanuel, 1101 Springdale Road
* 8pm, remembrance service, Congregation M'Kor Shalom, 850 Evesham Road.

In Collingswood,
* at noon, an Interfaith service; Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Haddon and Fern Avenues. * 6:30pm, Interfaith hope service and community choir, First United Methodist Church, Park and Dayton Aves. * 7:15pm, candlelight vigil by the town clock. Haddon Ave at Irvin Ave. in front of the Zane School. Choir performances.

In Cranbury,
at 8:30pm, The Women's Club of Cranbury sponsors a candlelight vigil along Main Street. Church bells will ring through the town at 8:46 p.m., exactly 12 hours and one year to the day that the first of the twin towers was struck.

In Deptford,
at 9am, Gloucester County memorial service; Deptford Mall, John Balis Parkway

In Delran,
10am, Burlco Firefighters 9/11 rememberance service, Delran Fire Co #1, Station 231.

In Delsea,
at 7:25am, Delsea Regional School District will hold remembrance ceremonies at Delsea's high school and middle school. The high school ceremonies will begin at 7:25am in the courtyard. The middle school ceremonies will begin at 9am on the football field.

In Deptford,
9am, Gloucester County memorial service at the Deptford Mall.

In Evesham,
* at 7:30pm, poetry discussion and reading, commemorating 9-11 events, by Joseph Barbarese. Barnes and Noble, Route 70.
* at 7:30pm, township candlelight service, Memorial Field, Tuckerton Road.

In Florence,
at 7pm, remembrance service at the Fountain of Life Center, 2035 Burlington Columbus Road.

At Fort Dix,
at 8am, Fort Dix and McGuire Air Force Base hold joint ceremony of remembrance; Griffith Memorial Field House.

In Haddon Heights,
at 7pm, the dedication of the Frank DeMartini "United We Stand Fitness Center; Haddon Heights High School, 2nd Avenue and Garden Street. Paul DeMartini's brother, Frank DeMartini, grew up in Haddon Heights (class 1970), he worked at WTC and lived in NY. He was the on-site manager for the World Trade Center with an office on the 88th floor of the north tower.

In Haddonfield,
*from 9-11pm, boro residents are invited to put out curbside luminaria as part of Light Up the Town event (free sets of candles and bags provided by visitors and information Center, Boro Hall, Public Library, and Fire house)
* at 8pm, the NJ Master Chorale and local singers will perform Faure's Requiem as well as patriotic hymns and songs, at Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Road.

In Hainesport,
* at 9:45am, the Hainesport Fire Company #1 located at 106 Broad Street, Hainesport N.J. will be holding a Memorial Service to pay respect to the lives lost during the disasters of September 11th 2001.
* at 7:30pm, Temple Har Zion of Mt. Holly will join with Rancocas Valley Clergy Assoc. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church for a service featuring New Yorkers talking about their experience and a ceremony giving thanks to firefighters.

In Mantua,
at 8:30am, memorial service at the Chestnut Branch park on Main Street. A new butterfly garden, including a memorial made from steel beams from the WTC site, will be dedicated. A ceremony will recognize John Rodak, a Mantua resident killed at WTC.

In Maple Shade,
at 7:15pm, outdoor multimedia memorial tribute. The Emmanuel Baptist Church, Main Street and Poplar Ave.

In Mays Landing,
The people of Hamilton Township will gather at 6:45pm in Memorial Park, Main Street, Mays Landing, for a service of reflection and healing to commemorate the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington, and Shanskville PA.

In Medford,
at 6pm, a memorial ceremony at Freedom Park, Union Street, Medford Village. Speeches with performances by BurlCo based bands. Police, fire, and other emergency personnel to display apparatus and be honored. Remembrance mural wall to be erected. Candlelight vigil.

In Monroe,
at 7:30pm, the Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio celebrates mass of remembrance and recognition at St. Mary's Church. 32 Carol Ave., Williamstown

In Mount Holly,
at 8:30am, a dedication of a flagpole erected in memory; Burlington County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 1632 Route 38 East.

In Pennsauken,
* at noon, Camden County Freeholders dedicate memorial to victims from Lockerbie to New York, Sept 11th and USS Cole; Cooper River Park, North Park Drive. *at 7pm, a memorial concert featuring NJ Pops Orchestra, Freedom Chorus and more; at Pennsauken High School. Donations go to the FF's who died in the Gloucester City Fire.

In Voorhees,
La Petite Academy is sponsoring a butterfly release in memory of the 9/11 victims and their families. Children will release live butterflies from the facility at 711 Berlin Rd. at the time of the second tower collapse. Proceeds will be donated to the "Homes for the Homeless Clinton Family Inn" in New York City.
