Home team in capital letters
CHICAGO -4 ½ vs. Arizona: One of several unattractive games this week, this is a battle of losers. Take the home team to win, but the Cards should cover. But really, who cares?
Bears 24 – Cardinals 21
HOUSTON -3 vs. Atlanta: Another dud. Without Michael Vick, the Falcons are bad. The Texans are getting better, but still stink. Once again, when in doubt take the home team.
Texans 20 – Falcons 16
N.Y. GIANTS -4 vs. Buffalo: This game features two under-achieving teams with coaches on their last legs. I’m not even sure the fans of these two teams care about this game, but for the sake of argument, take the Giants. Somebody has to win.
Giants 17 – Bills 14
PITTSBURGH -3 vs. Cincinnati: This should be a pretty good game. The Bengals have been playing very well and are sitting on top of the division (who’d have thunk?). The Steelers have been awful, but last week’s win kept them in the hunt. I think the Steelers stay in the hunt with a win here.
Steelers 24 – Bengals 23
ST. LOUIS -3 ½ vs. Minnesota: This will be an exciting matchup of two great turf teams with explosive speed and great offenses. The Vikes will hang for a while, but will lose it in the 4th.
Rams 35 – Vikings 30
INDIANAPOLIS -4 vs. New England: Now we’re in a stretch of meaningful games! Two 9-2 teams – one with a great O, the other a killer D. New England barely got it done last week and might be emotionally spent. I think the Colts can put up points on any team, so take them in this home game.
Colts 26 – Patriots 20
CAROLINA -1 ½ vs. Philadelphia: This game might get ugly. If McNabb can put up some points in this one, I’ll be a believer again. The Panthers D is stingy and their coach used to give the Birds fits as the Giants defensive coordinator, so I think this will play out like an old Eagles vs. Giants game with someone squeeking out the win on a late field goal. I’m worried about the Eagles suffering a let down here as they look ahead to the Cowboys, while the Panthers are ready to rumble after a tough loss to those Cowboys last week. That being said, I still think McNabb is more likely to make a big play late in the game than Delhomme is. In a close one...
Eagles 17– Panthers 13
BALTIMORE -3 vs. San Francisco: This should be interesting. The Ravens exploded for 44 points last week in an emotional come-from-behind win. The Niners lost a big game to the Packers and looked bad doing it. Their leader, Jeff Garcia, returns to start at QB and may be just the spark they need. The Ravens are tough, but it will be difficult to stay up after the ride they took last week.
49ers 16 – Ravens 13
WASHINGTON -3 vs. New Orleans: The Saints can still hang in the playoff hunt with a win here. The Skins are done.
Saints 27 – Redskins 20
Denver -3 vs. OAKLAND: Always a good game, these two teams hate each other! Unfortunately, the Raiders don’t have the weapons to hang with the horses this year. The Broncos bounce back here after a humiliating loss to the Bears.
Broncos 23 – Raiders 21
SEATTLE -6 vs. Cleveland: The Seahawks look like a high school team on the road but Super Bowl contenders at home. The Browns are mediocre wherever they play.
Seahawks 30 – Browns 26
Kansas City -6 ½ vs. SAN DIEGO: Not even a heavy dose of Flutie magic can pull this one out.
Chiefs 33 – Chargers 23
Tampa Bay -5 ½ vs. JACKSONVILLE: Tampa looked OK on Monday night, but it was against the Giants. I don’t think they can salvage their season anymore, but this week is a winnable game. Look for another ugly but effective effort.
Bucs 20 – Jags 16
Monday night: Tennessee -4 ½ vs. N.Y. JETS The Jets will put up a fight here, but their season is over and the Titans will prove to be too much for them in Tennessee.
Titans 28 – Jets 24
