Prosecutor to Retry Man

John Denofa was sentenced to life in prison for the 2000 death of 21-year-old Rachel Siani, a community college student who worked as an exotic dancer.
Authorities said he threw Siani out of a second-floor motel window and then threw her from a 112-foot-tall bridge.
But a New Jersey appellate panel today said there was confusion over whether Siani died in a fall from the Pennsylvania motel window or from the New Jersey bridge.
The panel ruled that the trial judge never told jurors that they could not convict Denofa unless they found the slaying had taken place in New Jersey.
Prosecutor Robert Bernardi says his office maintains Siani was alive when she was thrown from the bridge.
