Smoking Ban Could Hurt Casino experts say a pending measure in the New Jersey Legislature that would ban smoking will damage their bottom line.

The Casino Association of New Jersey says business could drop by as much as 15 percent, and that that could lead to a loss of up to 5,000 jobs.

The measure was passed by the Senate Health Committee Monday and now goes to the full Senate.

It would ban smoking on casino floors as well as fraternal organizations like VFW halls. Restaurants, bars and offices would also be included in the ban.

If the bill's passed, New Jersey would would join New York, Massachusetts, California and a handful of others that prohibit indoor smoking in public places.
