Free, Low-Cost Business Workshops Seven free and low-cost entrepreneurial seminars will be offered by the Rutgers-Camden Small Business Development Center throughout Burlington County in September. Three free entrepreneurial seminars will be offered by the Rutgers-Camden Small Business Development Center throughout Gloucester County in September. Five free and low-cost entrepreneurial seminars will be offered by the Rutgers-Camden Small Business Development Center throughout Camden County in September.

Burlington County
Burlington County Library's Westhampton branch will host three free seminars, including "Small Business Taxes" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16. Conducted by the New Jersey Division of Taxation, this seminar will discuss organization categories, record keeping, and overview of employment taxes.

"Credit Management for Entrepreneurs," from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, will explain how to understand personal credit history as reported by credit bureaus and will provide guidance for repairing credit.

"Business Owners Toolkit: Info Power," from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, will explore how to efficiently leverage thousands of dollars worth of library resources and databases, local government organizations, and websites to find the information needed to start a business.

### Fort Dix will host "Basic Training for Business" from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27. The free seminar, open to active military members and veterans, will explore some of the pitfalls of starting a business, the responsibilities of the owner, and the resources available to help make informed decisions. ### The Burlington County College Business Incubator will host three seminars, including the two-part "Starting a Business from A to Z," which will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on both Wednesday, Sept. 21, and Wednesday, Sept. 28. Designed for new or aspiring entrepreneurs, the seminar examines legal forms of doing business in New Jersey, business registration, bookkeeping records, federal and state taxation, payroll, insurance, and licensing. Registration is $95 and includes workbook and disk.

"Financing a Business," from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, will explain the criteria used by lenders to evaluate potential borrowers. The seminar will explore sources of financing including non-bank lenders such as the U.S. Small Business Administration, micro-lenders, and venture capitalists. Registration is $50.

"Business Ownership, Contracts and Agreements," will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29. The course provides a basic understanding of business contract law with an overview of the different types of contracts (employment, supplier, customer) with a description of situations requiring attorney consultation. Topics include legal structures, partnerships and partnership agreements, corporation and shareholder agreements.

Gloucester County
Gloucester County Library in Mullica Hill will host two free seminars, including "Building and Financing Your Business with the SBA" from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 13. The program will provide news and prospective business owners with information on the business loan programs and technical assistance programs offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Leading area bank lenders will be available to discus their role in the SBA's Guaranteed Lending Program.

"New Business Primer," from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, will provide a basic overview of how to launch a business. The free seminar will discuss such topics as business planning, legal formation, and registration requirements.

Gloucester County Library in Logan Township will host a free seminar, "Financial and Technical Assistance for Small Business," from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28. The course details the U.S. Small Business Administration's Guaranteed Lending Program. A representative from the Gloucester County Department of Economic Development will be available to discuss the various programs offered to small businesses, while the Cooperative Business Assistance Corporation will discuss its micro loan program.

Camden County
The Camden County Store in Voorhees will host a free seminar, "New Jersey State Certification Program" from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13. The free workshop will introduce procedures of accessing and responding to the state bid process. Discussion will include the vendor registration program SAVI-II, the unified certification program, and how to get listed with the New Jersey Department of Treasury.

### The Cherry Hill law firm Flaster/Greenberg will host a free luncheon seminar series for entrepreneurs starting Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Presented by attorneys at the business law firm Flaster/Greenberg, the program will be held at the Flaster/Greenberg Conference Center, located at 1810 Chapel Avenue West in Cherry Hill.

### The Camden County Store in Gloucester Township will host a free seminar, "Bond Readiness Workshop," from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, will enhance the ability of minority- and women-owned firms to compete for school construction contracts by providing access to free technical assistance in the following disciplines: business and financial planning; accounting and job costing; credit repair; procurement assistance; and bonding/loan application assistance.

### Rutgers University-Camden will host two courses on Friday, Sept. 23, including "QuickBooks: Introduction" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The seminar will discuss basic accounting principles and the pros and cons of manual versus computerized accounting. The course will also cover other QuickBook topics including menu options setup requirements and processing transactions and preparing reports. Registration is $100.

Also on Sept. 23, "The Basics of Buying, Selling and Valuing a Business" will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and will explore such basic valuation processes as balance sheet methods, net present value methods, and industry "rules of thumb," along with assumptions made by buyers and sellers in agreeing on a sale price. Registration is $60.
