NJ License Plate Seekers Get Dirty Line

Talk about hot plates! The wrong area code has New Jersey motorists seeking handicapped or animal-friendly license plates calling a phone sex line instead.

The Health and Senior Services Department and Disability Division listed the area code number as starting with 800 instead of 888.

It has since been corrected on the agencies' Web site. However, printed material with the wrong number has been handed out and cannot be fixed.

Officials will try to contact those who received a newsletter from the Associated Humane Societies that listed the wrong number.
