Reduced Adoption Fees at Shelter in Aug.

by Press Release | Jul 29, 2007
Reduced Adoption Fees at Shelter in Aug. The Burlington County Freeholders are once again sponsoring an Adopt-a-Pet program, called the “Dog Days of Summer,” through August with reduced adoption fees at the County Animal Shelter.

“This annual program helps to give needy animals good homes with reduced adoption fees and also includes having their pets spayed or neutered,” said Freeholder Dawn Marie Addiego who oversees the Health Department and Animal Shelter. The reduced adoption fee for dogs will be $40, instead of $60.

Addiego encouraged pet owners to have their pets immunized, exercised, properly fed and care for, humanely treated and sheltered, and provided identification tags.

Last year, more 1,000 dogs were adopted from the animal shelter with nearly 100 adopted during the August reduced-rate program.

The County Animal Shelter is located on Academy Drive off Woodlane Road behind the County Library.

Hours of operation are 11am to 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays; 11am to 4pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 11am to 3:30pm on Saturdays. The shelter is closed on Sundays and holidays.
