Bruins Bean Flyers

Bruins Bean Flyers Bill Guerin, the MVP of Sunday`s All-Star game, had a goal and his 200th NHL assist to help Boston win for the fifth time in six games. Byron Dafoe had 24 saves. Brian Boucher stopped 27 shots for Philadelphia, which lost for just the second time in eight games.

Boston took a 2-0 lead with goals 34 seconds apart early in the first period. But the Flyers struck just as quickly, scoring twice in a 69-second span of the second to rally from a 3-1 deficit.

That`s when Mikko Eloranta fought through several defenders to feed Axelsson for the winner.

Boston took a 1-0 lead when Andrei Kovalenko centered the puck to Jonathan Girard, who found Brian Rolston in front. Rolston swept the puck around Boucher for the goal, then took a hit from Daymond Langkow and fell face-first to the ice.

Rolston stayed there until a trainer came out to tend to him, and Langkow was given two minutes for cross-checking. Only 34 seconds into the penalty, Kyle McLaren`s slap shot from the blue line went off of Flyers forward Jody Hull`s stick and past Boucher to make it 2-0.

Philadelphia scored in the final minute of the first when the puck came to Michael Sykora during a scrum in front of the net. He chipped it past Dafoe with 59 seconds left just as a Boston penalty was expiring.

Jason Allison fed Guerin from behind the net for an easy wrist shot to make it 3-1. But Philadelphia tied it in the second with its two quick scores.

When McLaren picked up an interference penalty midway through the period, the Flyers peppered Dafoe with shots until Keith Primeau found the net. Peter White scored 1:09 later to make it 3-3.

Notes:
Flyers goalie Roman Cechmanek, who played for the World Team in Sunday`s All-Star game, did not play on Tuesday. ... The first fight came just seven seconds into the game, when Boston`s Andrei Nazarov and Philly`s Chris McAllister squared off. There was little punching, though McAllister did lose his shirt. Early in the second period, Rick Tocchet and Hal Gill fought. Fourteen seconds later, Andrei Nazarov fought Todd Fedoruk. ... Bruins forward Joe Thornton sat out the first game of his two-game suspension handed out by the NHL for cross-checking Johan Witehall last week. Thornton will lose nearly $43,500 in pay. ... McLaren and Rolston hit the goalpost twice in span of a couple minutes in the first period.
