Thunder Bats Do It Again

(Altoona, PA)- Mark Fischer had three hits and three RBI, while Kelly Ramos added a homer and four RBI in Trenton`s 8-3 win over Altoona. The Thunder took three of four games in the series.
Trenton (67-71) got a superlative effort from starter Jesus Pena. Pena (2-4), who had not gone more than four innings in any outing, went eight innings to get the win. He allowed three runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts.
Altoona (61-76) ran out to a 3-0 lead after three innings, but Trenton started their rally in the 6th Inning. The Thunder tied the game on a two-run double by Fischer and a sacrifice fly by Ramos.
Luis Garcia started the 7th Inning rally with an RBI double for a 4-3 lead. Fischer made it 5-3 with an RBI single. Ramos capped the inning with a three-run homer, his 7th of the year. All of those runs came off reliever Mike Diorio (1-4).
In the final three games of the series, Trenton collected 25 runs and 41 hits.
Trenton heads for Binghamton and the final series of 2001. It starts on Friday at 7:00 PM. Chris Elmore (5-2) goes for the Thunder against the Mets` Nick Maness (5-12).
