(Altoona, PA)- Virgil Chevalier`s two-run double in the 9th Inning provided insurancce runs for Trenton in an 8-3 win over Altoona. The Thunder mashed out 17 hits en route to the win.

The Thunder (66-71) who had 14 hits last night, led 5-3 into the 9th Inning when Chevalier roped a two-run, two-out double off D.J. Carrasco to give Trenton a 7-3 lead. Luis Garcia provided an RBI infield single for the 8th Thunder run. Garcia was 4 x 6 with two RBI on the night.

Greg Montalbano (3-3) allowed one run over 6 1/3 innings for the win. He walked one and struck out six. Altoona starter Steve Sparks (1-4) took the loss.

The Thunder also missed some opportunities as they left a season-high 17 runners on base during the game. trenton starnded 13 runners last night.

Altoona (61-75) trailed 5-1 after six innings, but got a two-run homer from Carlos Rivera off Trenton reliever John Ambrose to cut the deficit to two runs. Ambrose and B.J. Leach held the Curve in check in the 8th and 9th Innings to preserve the win.

The teams meet in the series finale on Thursday at 7:05 PM. Jesus Pena (1-4) starts for Trenton against Altoona`s Adrian Burnside (0-2).
