Curve Rally For Win Over Thunder

(Trenton)- J.J. Davis scored on fielder`s choice in the top of 9th inning as Altoona beat the Thunder 3-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Curve won two of the three games in the weekend series.
Trenton (17-25) had a 2-0 lead through six innings thanks to a solo homer from Kelly Ramos in the 3rd inning and an RBI single by Jorge DeLeon in the 6th inning.
Trenton starter Casey Fossum, who allowed three hits through six innings, ran into trouble in the seventh. He walked Kevin Haverbusch with one out. Darren Burton followed with an RBI triple. The tying run scored on a fielder`s choice by Carlos Rivera.
Altoona (17-27) then loaded the bases later in the inning, but Marty McLeary got a double play to end the threat. The Curve again loaded the bases in the 8th inning, B.J. Leach struck out Burton and Rivera to keep it a 2-2 game.
In the 9th inning, Altoona got back-to-back hits from Davis and Lee Evans to put men at first and third to start the inning. Richard Paz hit a ground ball to Angel Santos. His throw home was dropped by Ramos for a 3-2 lead.
Trenton tried to rally in the bottom half with a pair of two-out walks to Virgil Chevalier and Mark Fischer, but Brad Guy struck out PH Luis Garcia to earn his 4th save.
