Flyers Rake In Leafs

Flyers Rake In Leafs The Toronto Maple Leafs left Philadelphia without a victory or Eric Lindros. Dan McGillis and P.J. Stock added goals for Philadelphia, which won its third straight to move into a tie with the New Jersey Devils for first place in the Atlantic Division.

Gary Roberts and Yanic Perreault scored for Toronto, which hasn`t won in four games.

Before the game, Flyers general manager Bob Clarke said he`s no closer to trading Lindros, a restricted free agent who said he only wants to play for the Maple Leafs.

Roman Cechmanek made 30 saves to win his third straight since allowing six goals in the All-Star game and a 9-4 loss to Pittsburgh in back-to-back games.

Fedoruk gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead midway through the first with his fourth goal. He assisted on Stock`s goal 32 seconds later as Philadelphia`s fourth line set the tone for an easy victory.

Fedoruk skated in 1-on-2, drew goalie Curtis Joseph wide and dropped a pass to Stock, who scored his first goal with Philadelphia and second of the season.

After Roberts cut it to 2-1 with a power-play goal late in the first period, Recchi made it 3-1 on his 16th goal 5:39 into the second.

Recchi scored off a pass from Keith Primeau as he had just gotten up after being knocked down on a breakaway.

Recchi`s second goal _ also assisted by Primeau _ gave the Flyers a 5-2 lead with 16 seconds left in the second period and knocked Joseph out of the game. Glenn Healy started the third period in place of Joseph, who allowed five goals on 20 shots.

Notes: After playing 17 of 22 on the road, Philadelphia began a stretch of 13 of 15 at the First Union Center. The Flyers went 10-5-1-1 on the road during that stretch. ... Joseph fell to 3-12 lifetime against the Flyers, including two losses this season. ... The Flyers have won seven of the last eight against Toronto at home. ... Toronto had four straight power plays in the first period, but scored just once. The Maple Leafs were 1-for-7 with the man-advantage and Philadelphia was 0-for-5. ... The Flyers have one more victory than New Jersey, but have played two more games.
