Surf Fall to Fish in 11th The Bridgeport Bluefish (11-12) defeated the Atlantic City Surf 4-3 in 11 innings last evening. Kinnis Pledger knocked in the game-winning run for the Bluefish with a pinch-hit RBI single in the 11th inning off Atlantic City`s David Mastrlonardo (0-1) that scored Brendan Kingman.

Kingman began the rally with a double and the bases were quickly loaded for Pledger after Mastrlonardo issued walks to Oreste Marrero and Mel Wearing. Mike Guilfoyle (2-0) picked up the win in relief, tossing two scoreless innings.

Bluefish starter Al Sontag struck out nine Surf batters in seven innings (9 H, 3 R), but left the game after the seventh with the no decision. The Bluefish grabbed a brief lead in the third inning when Duane Singleton singled home Dee Jenkins from third base after he had led off the inning with a double. Atlantic City answered with a three-run rally in the fourth inning that began with a Keith Gordon solo home run to leftfield.

Jose Velazquez then walked and scored on a Jorge Morales single. Santiago Henry drove in the final run of the inning with a bunt single down the first base line to score Emison Soto. The Bluefish knotted the game by scoring a run in the fourth and fifth innings. In the fourth, Billy Rich smaked a double, stole third base and evntually scored on a Dee Jenkins single. An inning later with the bases loaded, the Bluefish tied the game at 3-3 when Mel Wearing grounded into a double play that scored Duane Singleton.
